♥ April Higney
April Higney is a self-taught visual artist, poet and author. Born and raised in Massachusetts she started out with a love for illustrating landscapes and architecture. April’s blog incorporates her poetry, art, and own photo manipulation work.
Her drive to write poetry came from many aspects of personal and emotional experiences over a number of years. April writes of losses, relationships, family, and love. She has elements of shadow and light with awareness of struggles, and belief in the beauty of life while getting beyond those difficulties.
April resides in the southeastern U.S. When she is not writing, she is spending time with her daughter, enjoying photography somewhere outdoors, and sometimes illustrating or painting. Her biggest inspirations have been her child, the support of her family, and the many friends she has found in life and online.
Currently April is working on two novels, one a romance in poetry and the other is a “follow-up” novel to Slipping Back and Forth Between Parallels. She is also working on a collection of poetry for an anthology of her work.
April’s first novel, Slipping Back and Forth Between Parallels is a psychological thriller/romance. The main character is lost between many points of his psyche, dreams, reality, trauma and tragedy, with a merging true love connection. April beautifully created all of the cover imagery as well as the book editing. She expresses her book editing as, “not without flaw, just as life.”
Through personal and creative factors, April has chosen to self-publish this work and is excited about the learning process involved with such a venture.

“This is not drama, but blunt force. What Becky does is guide us delicately into the situation and then show us, holding our head to the reality, how far we have evolved, and how sensual, ridiculous and hard life can be.
This is reality literature. It is storytelling that evokes emotion rather than guiding us from point A to point B. It is an indictment, through one woman’s lens, into confusion, pain, eroticism, lust, and perhaps, most importantly, loss.
We all should be grateful to have someone taking note of how we act, what we say; someone to guide us along the rocky paths we lead. Becky Tsaros Dickson is telling us the truth. It’s about damn time.”
